On 31 October 2020, severe thunderstorms impacted Central and Southeast Queensland, causing high winds and hail. Western and Southwestern outskirts of Brisbane were hit with giant hail as large as 14 cm. The suburb of Springfield Lakes appeared to be the worst affected.
